The Annie Oakley Motto
“ Aim at the high mark and you will hit it.
No, not the first time, nor the second and maybe not the third.
But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect.
Finally, you’ll hit the Bull’s Eye of Success.”

But keep on aiming and keep on shooting for only practice will make you perfect.
Finally, you’ll hit the Bull’s Eye of Success.”
Annie Oakley
Yesterday was hard. What good friends you all are. Thank you.
Tomorrow,
LET'S HAVE SOME FUN
somehow i missed that last year.
ReplyDeletewhat does one say to something so nicely made, with such a mixture of happys and sads? i'm sorry your mom's gone. i know this is an awful time of year for you. how crappy that your birthday is right next to the anniversary of your mama's death. are the two combined in your head?
on a happy note, you've always had great hair and a wonderful smile. =)
oh sure, the two dates are combined now in my mind. Days before my birthday, we were all standing there in the hospital, and my brother obliviously said; "SOMEBODY'S got a birthday coming up!" He thought he was trying to do anything to lighten the mood. My mother turned her face away and teared up for a moment. My mother almost NEVER cried so that was brutal. Then there was the birthday card that my dad signed, and got mom to scrawl on. I wanted NO presents that year. My inlaws got me a basket of stuff, and I gave 3/4 of it to my sister.
DeleteYou are so funny, Sherilinnie, re; great hair. I've always thought I had HORRIBLE but it's improved as I've stopped fighting it for the most part :)
i've always been afflicted with flat, split-ended, mousey brown hair that wouldn't hold so much as a bend, let alone a curl even with gobs of curling irons and hairspray. your long, flowy mermaid hair brings out the hair envy in me.
Deletewow--I always thought of it as THICK DOG HAIR, or, horse hair. I'm done with fighting it though now, and it does what it wants for the most part, unless I'm feeling fancy and STRAIGHTEN IT. My niece has wavy/curly hair like I did. Hers is even curlier, and white blonde, and long. She hates it. My sister can't understand why. I told her that you will never convince a curly haired person that curly hair is WHERE IT'S AT.
DeleteBut look how good your hair looks in your modern bob. Think of how much time you save in just letting it do its own thing. Plus, it would never turn retarded in Florida, or other places filled with humidity!
I have ALWAYS loved your hair! :)
DeleteYou can't be serious. Ah well, there you have it. There is no being satisfied with one's own freaking self. Thank you.
DeleteI concur, you got yourself a good head of hair!
DeleteI LOVE this and I love song too. was going to so say something rude about cowgirls and positions but can't be arsed. Hope all is good with you xxxxxx
ReplyDeletefunny you should mention, Miss Simmonds, because if I just googled "cowgirl" the first thing that came up was...well, clearly you know :)
DeleteGee i watched the whole thing and then was going to comment..what? I already did? impossible! Did I miss a whole day again.....??? Silly it was from last year and still as touching as it was the first go.....thinking of you Karen!
ReplyDeletethanks Melissa. I was rather pleased with my amateur video crafting skills. Wait...that sounds weird, under the circumstances, but whatever.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very sweet memorial video for your mom.
ReplyDeleteI also love the Annie Oakley quote.
thanks Ruth. The quote grabbed me too!
DeleteI hadn't seen you post from last year (didn't now you then - so glad I do now) and it is very moving.
ReplyDeleteAhh, Karen, what can I say? I am so sorry about your mum and that you miss her so much. But you are one strong cowgirl (no sexual references intended).
Love all those vintage pin-up girls, Annie Oakley, and beautiful Jane Russell. A little dress-up post to lift your spirits next, Karen? It works wonders for me!
Much love to you. xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Ooo...a dress up post..how prophetic you are, Curtise!
DeleteYes, I'm glad to know you now too. Ah well, it's just that spring time hump I have to hop over...among other hurdles. But, we all have them.
*hugs*
ReplyDelete*tear wipe*
Aw, thanks Steph :)
